In order to keep up the family tradition, Csaba Nagyházi (1944-2012) follows in his father’s, János Nagyházi’s (1901-1992, numismatist and antiquary) footsteps founding the Nagyházi Gallery and Auction House together with his wife, Marietta Soóky in 1984. It is one of the longest running auction houses in Hungary. The first auction was held in our auction house (1000 m²) ten years later (1994) in cooperation with the Sotheby’s on Falk Miksa Street – in the heart of Budapest’s antiques quarter. Over the past two decades there have altogether 186 auctions been successfully carried out. There are eight, thematic auctions organized a year. Exhibitions are usually organized presenting old master’s, 19th and 20th century paintings, as well as works of applied art and folk art objects. We also take care of legacies and offer appraisal and valuation services of antique. Furthermore, a charity auction is conducted every year by the gallery.
